The past between them

Truth...and reconciliation? Why would children of Holocaust survivors and children of Nazi perpetrators come together to explore "the past between them"? Here's a video from CBS circa 1992 on such a meeting at Harvard University--it just popped up on the H-Net listserv thanks to Mona Sue Weissmark of Northwestern University.

Sorry that the video isn't loading--follow the link!

Interesting video, B. I'm curious about the context under which it appeared on H-Net One thing that struck me was that these were all individuals who had already reached the point of reconciliation (or the desire/need for it). So how did they get there personally? Is there a lesson not in their meeting so much as their individual progressions to the point where they wanted to meet? The CBS story seemed to paint it as an effort to transform collective memory, yet there is a distinct tension here between the larger social/collective elements and the individual stories of the sons and daughters. Good food for thought. Thanks.
